The tournament is hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States. It starts on 11 June 2026 and ends with the final on 19 July 2026 at New York New Jersey Stadium. The format uses 12 groups of four teams. The top two teams in each group, plus the eight best third-placed teams, move into the new Round of 32.

How the Group Stage Works
Each team plays three group matches. A win gives three points, a draw gives one point and a defeat gives no points. The top two teams in each group advance automatically. The eight strongest third-placed teams also qualify, which means the third-place table may become one of the most important and emotional parts of the tournament.
