Leonardo Art School Launches a New Global Season of Creative Intelligence

From 12 September, Leonardo Art School centres across five continents will open their new season of Saturday classes for young creators, welcoming children into an educational environment designed around one central idea: Creativity is not simply a talent. It is a way of thinking that can be developed.

A new academic season is beginning at Leonardo Art School, the international creative education network dedicated to developing not only artistic ability, but the way children think, imagine, create and express themselves.

Students certainly learn how to draw, paint and work with different forms of visual art. But these artistic activities are used as instruments for something larger: developing imagination, observation, concentration, visual intelligence, independent thinking, problem-solving and the confidence to turn an idea into something visible and real.

Art as Training for the Brain

The educational philosophy behind Leonardo Art School is based on the understanding that visual creation actively engages multiple cognitive processes.

When a child draws, designs, chooses colours, constructs a composition or searches for an original visual solution, they are constantly making decisions.

They observe. They compare. They imagine. They experiment. They make mistakes. They change direction. And finally, they create something that did not previously exist. This is why Leonardo Art School sees art education as much more than training the hand.

It is training the mind to create.

The developers, educators and researchers behind the Leonardo educational system have developed thousands of exercises, approaches and creative techniques using drawing, visual thinking, neurographic-inspired practices and other forms of visual art to stimulate different aspects of thinking and creative behaviour.

The objective is not to make every student a professional artist. The objective is to help every child become a creator.

Why Future Entrepreneurs Need Art

This philosophy has an important connection with entrepreneurship.

Before a person can create a company, an innovation or an entirely new system, they must first develop the ability to imagine something that does not yet exist.

That ability begins long before business education. A future entrepreneur needs to see possibilities where others see limitations. An innovator needs to combine ideas in unexpected ways. A leader needs to visualise a future and persuade other people to believe in it. A scientist needs curiosity. An architect needs spatial thinking. A policymaker needs the capacity to design systems. A founder needs the courage to create. All of these abilities have a common foundation: creative thinking.

That is why Leonardo Art School regards early creative education as particularly valuable not only for future artists, but for future entrepreneurs, innovators, scientists, designers, public leaders and creators of new organisations.

The world does not need only people capable of functioning efficiently inside existing systems.

It also needs people capable of creating new systems.

Why Start in Childhood?

Childhood is an especially important period for developing habits of thinking, perception, experimentation and self-expression.

The developing brain demonstrates particularly high neuroplasticity, making early years an important period for acquiring new skills and behavioural patterns.

For this reason, Leonardo Art School encourages children to begin creative development early.

The objective is not simply to accumulate knowledge.

Knowledge can be learned later.

The deeper goal is to develop the behavioural architecture of the personality:

  • the habit of asking questions;
  • the confidence to propose an idea;
  • the ability to experiment;
  • the willingness to make mistakes;
  • the discipline to complete a project;
  • and the satisfaction of creating something independently.

These abilities can later become the foundation for success in many completely different professions.

FROM “DRAW THIS” TO “CREATE YOUR OWN”

Traditional art education can sometimes concentrate primarily on reproducing an object correctly.

Leonardo Art School seeks to go further.

The child is encouraged not only to ask: “How should I draw this?” but also: “What do I want to create?”, “Why do I see it this way?”, “What other solution is possible?”, “How can I express my own idea?”

This transition from reproduction to creation is central to the Leonardo methodology.

A child who is constantly encouraged to generate original solutions begins to develop a different relationship with the world.

Instead of waiting to be given the correct answer, they learn to search for one. And sometimes — to invent one.

CREATIVITY AND THE ABILITY TO CREATE VALUE

There is also an economic dimension to creative education.

In the modern economy, creativity is increasingly connected with the ability to generate value.

Design, architecture, technology, media, advertising, fashion, gaming, entertainment, product development, entrepreneurship and many emerging AI-related professions all depend heavily on the capacity to create, communicate and differentiate ideas.

For Leonardo Art School, therefore, creativity and future economic independence are not opposing concepts.

A child can learn that creative ability is not only beautiful. Creativity can become value. It can become a profession. A product. An invention. A brand. A company. Or an entirely new way of solving an old problem. This is the bridge between creativity and entrepreneurship.

A GLOBAL COMMUNITY OF YOUNG CREATORS

Over the years, the Leonardo educational model has expanded internationally through an educational franchise network, bringing its methodology to students in different countries and cultural environments.

Thousands of students have participated in the wider educational ecosystem across five continents.

The international structure also allows local Leonardo Art School centres to work within a common methodology while encouraging children to retain their individuality, culture and personal creative language. The result is not intended to be thousands of children producing identical pictures.

Quite the opposite. The aim is thousands of children learning to think independently.

A NEW SEASON BEGINS

The opening of the new season on 12 September is therefore more than the beginning of another series of art lessons. It represents another year of helping children discover what they can imagine, what they can create and, ultimately, what they may become.

To every new student beginning their Leonardo journey this season: be curious, experiment boldly, create freely and never be afraid of an original idea.

To teachers and franchise partners across the international Leonardo Art School network: may the new academic year bring new discoveries, talented students and inspiring achievements.

And to Leonardo Art School itself: may this innovative educational system continue to grow, prosper and help new generations develop the creative intelligence required to build the future.
