The dispute centres on the abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal, which would have transferred commercial rights connected with some of FIFA's most valuable competitions into a new corporate structure open to private investment.

The legal manoeuvre represents far more than another political disagreement between FIFA and UEFA. It raises fundamental questions about who controls football's most valuable commercial assets, how major decisions inside international sports organisations should be approved, and how much authority should be concentrated in the hands of a president and a small executive circle.
