Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement said it had launched a ballistic missile at Riyadh airport. The group also repeated its threat to force the closure of Saudi airspace after Saudi Arabia backed internationally recognised Yemeni government forces in the renewed conflict. Offices in Riyadh reportedly instructed some employees to work from home as security concerns increased.
The confrontation threatens to transform Yemen once again into one of the most dangerous fronts in the Middle East. Saudi infrastructure, international aviation and vital shipping routes—including the Bab el-Mandeb Strait—could all face further disruption if the conflict expands. The attacks therefore represent more than a regional military incident: they create new risks for global trade, energy supplies and international security.
